I have two recommendations.  The first is the Berg Fashion Library, available on the Library's DATABASES page. The link appears below.Just look under "B" in the A to Z List, and when you get into Berg using your FIT username and password, type "knitwear" in the search box.  You'll see some excellent results.

Another approach is to find books on the topic using OneSearch, our online catalog.  Type "knitting history" in the search box to find books on both machine and hand knitting.
