To find books & DVDs on any fashion designer search our OneSearch., choosing the "physical items" search option. We have several books on De La Renta that should give you his background, etc. . For a more specific search, and to eliminate books where he's just one of many designers covered, once you get results, look for "Refine your Search" (in the left-hand column), choose subject > Oscar de la Renta

  • You can also find articles online through OneSearch or, do a search in any of the suggested databases listed below. To narrow your results look for options to search only in the title of the article/essay,  or as the subject/tag of the article.. Or, you may want to add a term like interview or influence to your search
  • (These and all of our other databases can be found at www.fitnyc.edu/library/databases
    • Berg Fashion Library
    • Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL)
      • TIP: this one is really good for finding out about connections between one designer and another, including who influenced whom but it doesn't work well for designers from the past 10 years or so
    • For industry news try WWD and Business of Fashion
    • Vogue Archive is good for articles, editorial photo shoots, and ads with his work.

Finally, we have a research guide, Fashion Designers, that can give you other ideas on how to find different kinds of info on designers.
